On December 26, 2009, East District Uniform members were assisting the RCMP with a break and enter investigation that occurred in rural Manitoba between November 23 and 24, 2009.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 500 block of Archibald Street with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team an Uniform members from other Divisions. Ammunition was located within the residence resulting in the arrest of a 38 year old male. He is facing charges of Break and Enter and Possess Ammunition while Prohibited and was released on a Promise to Appear.
Further investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed at a residence in the 100 block of Devonshire Drive on December 27th by Uniform members with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team.
The following was seized as a result of the investigation:
- jewellery
- Canadian and U.S. currency
- electronic items
- gift cards
- a quantity of Marihuana
- a quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine
- a quantity of Ecstasy tablets
- a quantity of Psilocybin
- a quantity of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD)
- drug trafficking paraphernalia
- machetes
- a shot gun
- ammunition
- a sword
- a quantity of counterfeit money
Further investigation revealed that the cash, a quantity of property and the firearm were stolen during the previously mentioned break-in that occurred in rural Manitoba.
Cris Allan Curtis SCHULTZ, 27 years of Winnipeg was arrested at the time in connection with the investigation. He was charged with the following:
- Possessing a Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking X 5
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose X 5
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Break and Enter
- Break and Enter and Steal a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm X 2
- Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Drive Disqualified
- Fail to Comply with the Conditions of a Recognizance X 2
Anthony Vic GERBASI, 29 years, of Winnipeg was arrested on December 28th and detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. He was charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon X 2
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking X 5
- Possessing Counterfeit Money
A 28 year old male and a 20 year old female were also arrested on December 28th in connection with the investigation. Both are facing drug possession charges and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. They were released on a Promise to Appear.
The investigation is continuing.
DRUG ARREST R09-98928
On December 30, 2009 at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Organized Crime Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Leila Avenue.
A variety of drugs including 37 ounces of Crystal Methamphetamine, Psilocybin, Hashish, Hydromorphone tablets and more than 3,300 Ecstasy tablets was seized. The total estimated street value of the drugs is in excess of $40,000.00. Almost $7,000.00 in Canadian currency and drug trafficking paraphernalia was also seized.
A 33 year old male and a 33 year old female were arrested in connection with the investigation. Both are facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X 7 and Possess of Proceeds of Crime and were released on a Promise to Appear.
DECEASED FEMALE LOCATED C09-292183
Shortly after noon on December 30, 2009, emergency services were called to a bus shelter in the area of Maryland Street and Ellice Avenue regarding a deceased female that had been located.
Investigators have determined that a male and a female were observed in the bus shelter several hours prior by a Winnipeg Transit driver. They were observed to still be in the shelter when the driver passed by sometime later and emergency services were notified.
The cause of death is yet to be determined pending an autopsy but the investigation has revealed that the cold weather may have contributed to the 31 year old victim’s demise. Her 43 year old male acquaintance was conveyed to hospital in stable condition. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
The investigation is continuing.
MISSING PERSON R09-98108
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating an 18 year old missing male, Chad MONIAS. MONIAS was last seen on December 16, 2009 in the North End of Winnipeg.

MONIAS is described as Aboriginal, 6’2” tall and weighs approximately 177 pounds. He has long black hair in a ponytail and brown eyes.
MONIAS requires medication and it is believed he may not have access to it. He is known to frequent the North End of the city.
Anyone with information regarding MONIAS’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 986-6250.
